Best shilajit in the UK: what to check before you buy
Short answer: the best shilajit for a UK buyer is one you can check. That means a recent report from a named, accredited laboratory, real numbers for lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury, microbiology and contaminant screening, a batch number you can match, a clear price per gram and a UK seller with a written returns policy. A label that just says "pure" proves none of that.
We sell shilajit, so we're not neutral. Below is the checklist we'd give a friend, followed by every lab report behind our own resin, so you can run the checklist on us.
- ISO/IEC 17025-accredited lab report
- No pesticides detected above limits
- London dispatch, 28-day returns
Evidence reviewed: AGROLAB, Eurofins and IAS reports, supplier certificates

The 8-point checklist for buying shilajit in the UK
You can run all eight from a product page in about ten minutes. If a brand can't answer one, email them. A good seller replies with documents, not adjectives.
A batch certificate of analysis
- Look for
- A downloadable report for the batch on sale, with a batch number you can match.
- Red flag
- There's a "lab tested" badge and nothing behind it.
A named, accredited laboratory
- Look for
- The lab's name, address and accreditation statement on the report itself.
- Red flag
- The report is on the brand's own letterhead, or the lab details are cropped out.
Heavy metals as numbers
- Look for
- Results for lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury, with units and limits.
- Red flag
- It just says "pass" or "within limits".
Microbiology
- Look for
- E. coli, Salmonella, yeasts and moulds, and a total count.
- Red flag
- A raw natural material has had no microbial testing at all.
Identity and fillers
- Look for
- Evidence it's shilajit, and hasn't been bulked out with starch, chalk or binders.
- Red flag
- "100% pure" appears with no testing to back it.
A specification you can trace
- Look for
- Fulvic acid and mineral figures on a lab report, with the method named.
- Red flag
- Round percentages only ever appear in marketing copy.
Price per gram and dose
- Look for
- Jar size, suggested daily amount and price, so you can work out the cost per day.
- Red flag
- The price per gram is far below everyone else's.
A real UK seller
- Look for
- A UK address, working contact details, delivery times and a written returns policy.
- Red flag
- There's no address, or returns are "at our discretion".

Pesticide multi-residue screen
mg/kgThe lab screened for an extensive list of pesticide active ingredients and metabolites, set out in full on pages 5 to 8 of the report. Most limits of quantification were 0.01 mg/kg.
"In the range of performed analysis no pesticides of multimethod were detected above limit of detection/quantification."
AGROLAB LUFA report, page 1
"Not detected above the limit" is not the same as "pesticide-free". It means nothing on the list was found at a level the method can measure.

How to read these numbers
- "<0.50 mg/kg"
- Below the lowest amount the method can measure reliably. The true figure is under 0.50. It isn't zero.
- LOQ and LOD
- The limit of quantification is the lowest level a lab can put a number on. The limit of detection is the lowest level it can tell is there at all.
- mg/kg and µg/kg
- mg/kg is parts per million. µg/kg is parts per billion, a thousand times smaller.
- Not detected in 25 g
- The organism wasn't found in the 25 g the lab examined. It's the standard way to report a pathogen test.
| Metal | Report result | Per 500 mg |
|---|---|---|
| Lead | <0.50 mg/kg | under 0.25 µg |
| Cadmium | <0.20 mg/kg | under 0.10 µg |
| Mercury | <0.02 mg/kg | under 0.01 µg |
| Arsenic (total) | 0.10 mg/kg | about 0.05 µg |

From batch to your door: how our testing works
Testing is a condition of purchase for us, not something we add afterwards.
Sourcing
Our resin comes from Himalayan Healing, a shilajit producer in Pakistan.
Batch
Resin is produced in batches of around 2,500 jars.
Testing
The supplier sends a sample from the batch to an independent laboratory.
Report
The lab issues a report on that sample, naming the batch.
Our review
We read the report before any decision to buy.
Acceptance
We buy a batch only once the required testing is done and the report is with us.
Dispatch
Jars from that batch go to UK customers from London.
Batch tested ≠ every jar tested
A laboratory tests a representative sample, and its report applies to that sample. That's standard practice for food supplements, and it's why the batch number on your jar matters. We'd rather say this plainly than let "lab tested" suggest more than it means.
What a lab report does and doesn't tell you
A good report is the strongest evidence a shilajit brand can offer. It still has edges, and knowing them is what lets you compare brands fairly.
It tells you
- Which sample and batch was tested, by which lab, and when
- What was tested for, and the method used for each test
- The measured results and the limits of each method
- Whether the lab judged the sample against a named regulation
- What the lab's accreditation does and doesn't cover
It doesn't tell you
- That every jar was tested individually
- That a later batch will give the same results
- That every possible contaminant was tested
- That anything below a quantification limit is zero
- Whether shilajit has any effect on your health
- That the product has any kind of government approval
Label claims versus evidence
Shilajit labels lean on a handful of words. Here's what would actually back each one up, and what our own documents show.
The label says
"Lab tested"
- What would prove it
- A named lab, a batch number, a date and the results.
- What our documents show
- AGROLAB LUFA, batch SJ2509, 6 October 2025, 11 pages of results.
The label says
"Heavy-metal free"
- What would prove it
- Nothing can. Metals occur naturally in rock-derived material.
- What our documents show
- Lead, cadmium, arsenic and mercury below quantification limits, making it safe.
The label says
"Pesticide free"
- What would prove it
- A multi-residue screen with stated limits, and even then only "not detected".
- What our documents show
- No pesticides detected above the limits of the analysis performed.
The label says
"Certified"
- What would prove it
- The standard, the holder, the scope and the expiry date.
- What our documents show
- Our supplier holds HACCP, ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 certificates. Nature Elixirs doesn't hold them itself.
The label says
"EU approved"
- What would prove it
- Nothing. Individual food supplements aren't pre-approved in the UK or EU.
- What our documents show
- The lab found the sample complies with EU contaminant rules within the tests it ran. That's an assessment, not an approval.
The label says
"100% pure"
- What would prove it
- Identity and adulterant testing, and no single test proves a blanket "100%".
- What our documents show
- "Pure" in our product name means resin with nothing added. We don't claim a lab has proven 100% purity.
Certificates in our supply chain
A lab report tells you what was found in a sample. A certificate tells you a management system was audited against a standard. They answer different questions, and neither replaces the other.
- HACCP
HACCP
A food safety system for identifying and controlling hazards at each stage of production.
- ISO 9001
ISO 9001:2015
Quality management. Scope codes shown: EA 03 (food products) and EA 29 (wholesale and retail trade).
- ISO 22000
ISO 22000:2018
Food safety management. Food category shown: CIV, the processing of ambient-stable products.
- ISO 22716
ISO 22716:2007
Good manufacturing practice for cosmetics. It isn't a food or supplement standard, so we don't treat it as evidence about our resin.

Buying shilajit in the UK: form, price and where to buy
There's no good head-to-head research showing one form works better than another. The practical differences are in what you can check and what else ends up in the product.
| Form | What you can check | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|
| Resin | You can see and handle the product itself. The easiest form to match to a batch report. | Sticky, earthy taste, measured by eye or with a spatula. |
| Capsules | The exact amount per capsule is on the label. | You can't inspect what's inside. Check the shell and fillers on the ingredients list. |
| Gummies | A set amount per gummy. | Usually contain sugar or sweeteners and flavourings. The shilajit per gummy varies a lot. |
| Powder | Easy to mix into drinks. | Hardest to tell apart from a diluted or blended product, so the lab report matters even more. |
We only sell resin, so weigh that when you read this. More detail in our resin, capsules and powder comparison.
What a jar really costs
Compare per day, not per jar. Divide the price by the grams, then multiply by the amount you'll take. Our 30g jar at £39.99 works out at about £1.33 per gram.
| Daily amount | Cost per day | Days per jar |
|---|---|---|
| 250 mg | about 33p | about 120 |
| 500 mg | about 67p | about 60 |
Good resin is hand-collected, purified over weeks and tested batch by batch. A jar priced far below the market is worth questioning.
Where to buy, and your rights
- Direct from the brandUsually the easiest way to get a report that matches your jar and to send something back.
- Amazon, eBay and other marketplacesConvenient, but one listing can have several sellers, and the report in the photos may not match the batch you receive.
- High-street health shopsEasy returns in person, but ask for testing details, as shelf labels rarely include them.
Online, you normally have 14 days after delivery to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, though sealed health products can be excluded once opened. Our returns policy gives you 28 days from receipt.

Questions UK buyers ask about shilajit
What is the best shilajit in the UK?
If you're looking for authentic Himalayan shilajit with evidence you can actually check, Nature Elixirs is built around transparency, batch-level laboratory testing and clear product documentation.
Our Pure Himalayan Shilajit Resin is sourced from the Himalayas and supported by laboratory documentation for the tested batches. We publish the available testing evidence so customers can check key quality and contaminant results rather than relying only on marketing claims.
For authenticity, don't rely on appearance or a brand claiming to be "pure". Look for a genuine resin, traceable batch information, laboratory documentation, contaminant testing and a seller that clearly explains where the product comes from and how it is tested.
Nature Elixirs' approach is simple: don't just ask customers to trust us — show them the evidence behind the product.
Is every jar of Nature Elixirs shilajit lab tested?
No. Testing is done per batch, and a batch is around 2,500 jars. A laboratory tests a representative sample from the batch, and its report applies to that sample. We don't buy a batch until the required testing is complete and we have the report.
Who supplies Nature Elixirs shilajit?
Our resin comes from Himalayan Healing, a shilajit producer in Pakistan. That's why their company name appears as the customer on the laboratory reports: they send the samples to the lab. Nature Elixirs is the UK brand you buy from, and we only accept a batch once its testing documentation has been provided.
What does the laboratory report show about heavy metals?
The laboratory report provides batch-specific analytical results for metals including lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic. For batch SJ2509, lead, cadmium and mercury were reported below the laboratory's stated quantification limits, while arsenic was detected and reported separately.
The arsenic result is a total arsenic measurement. Total arsenic should not be treated as equivalent to inorganic arsenic, which is the form of primary toxicological concern.
Laboratory results apply to the sample tested and the corresponding batch; they do not mean that every individual jar has been separately tested.
Is Nature Elixirs ISO certified?
No. The HACCP and ISO certificates on this page belong to our supplier, and Nature Elixirs doesn't hold them itself. One of them, ISO 22716:2007, is a good manufacturing practice standard for cosmetics, so we don't treat it as evidence about a food supplement.
Is shilajit legal in the UK?
Shilajit is sold in the UK as a food supplement. It has to be safe, correctly labelled and within the legal limits for contaminants such as lead, cadmium and mercury, and it can't be marketed as treating, curing or preventing any disease.
Where can I buy genuine shilajit in the UK?
From brand websites, marketplaces such as Amazon and eBay, and some high-street health shops. Buying direct from the brand usually makes it easiest to get a lab report that matches your batch. Wherever you buy, check the seller's UK address, the batch report and the returns policy before you pay. Nature Elixirs provides authentic and genuine shilajit resin in Uk
Are shilajit capsules as effective as resin?
There's no good head-to-head research comparing the forms. The differences are practical: resin is easier to inspect and match to a lab report, while capsules give you a fixed amount but you can't see what's inside. Whichever you choose, the batch testing matters more than the form.
How long does a 30g jar of shilajit last?
At 250 mg a day, a 30g jar lasts about 120 days. At 500 mg a day, it lasts about 60 days.
What does "below the limit of quantification" mean on a lab report?
It means the substance, if present, was below the lowest amount the method can measure reliably. A result such as "<0.50 mg/kg" tells you the true figure is under 0.50 mg/kg. It doesn't mean zero.
Can a shilajit brand say it boosts testosterone or energy?
Not in Great Britain unless that claim is authorised for the ingredient, and we're not aware of any authorised health claim for shilajit or fulvic acid. Lab testing tells you about contaminants and composition, not about health effects.
How can I tell if shilajit is authentic?
There is no reliable way to authenticate shilajit simply by looking at its colour, smell or texture. A stronger approach is to look for traceable sourcing, batch identification and independent laboratory documentation.
Nature Elixirs provides Pure Himalayan Shilajit Resin with batch-level testing documentation for the batches covered by our published reports. Where laboratory results are available, customers can review the report and match the relevant batch information rather than relying only on a claim that the product is "pure" or "authentic".
Our approach is simple: authenticity should be supported by evidence, not just a label.
Why choose Nature Elixirs for Himalayan shilajit?
Nature Elixirs focuses on authentic Himalayan shilajit, transparent sourcing and evidence-backed batch testing. We don't expect customers to choose our resin simply because we call it "pure" or "premium". We provide available laboratory documentation, explain what the results actually mean and clearly distinguish batch testing from individual-jar testing.
Our Pure Himalayan Shilajit Resin is sold directly to customers in the UK, with product information, testing documentation and purchasing policies available on our website.
If evidence, transparency and traceability matter to you, Nature Elixirs gives you the information needed to make an informed choice.
